The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Peter replied, “Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
(Acts 2:38 NLT)

Peter’s teaching, as recorded in the Book of Acts, led people to examine their lives and ask him what they needed to do.  They recognized their need for salvation in Christ and went forward to receive God’s powerful help.

Peter assured them that by turning away from their sins and surrendering their lives to God, that they would be forgiven and receive the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit. We can expect the same blessings if we bring our failures before God.

When we ask God to forgive our sins, He sets us free from our bondage to sin and gives us the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to persevere as we follow Christ. It is through this process that we can fully experience the transformation and blessing that God longs to bring into our lives.

"The power of the Holy Spirit is completely opposite to the world's power. The power of the Holy Spirit gives God's children the ability to serve His purpose for our lives. The Holy Spirit's power is unlike any other in the world. Only the power of the Holy Spirit can transform us, relieve our guilt, and heal our souls."
