Meditate on the Word

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 (NKJV)

We are in a daily fight with our minds. One writer calls it the battlefield of the mind. That is where most of our struggle takes place. If our mind is filled with sinful thoughts and desires, it is a sign we are focused on the things of the flesh. The Bible tells us to set our minds on things above, of the Spirit. How do we do this? By reading the Bible and meditating on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Memorizing and studying scripture is a great way to confront the desires of the flesh, and Romans 8 is a great place to start. Try finding a Bible verse, repeating it several times a day, and memorizing it.  When you can recall a Bible verse from memory, you have it available for immediate recall when needed.

Train your mind to focus on the things of the Spirit, for He keeps those in perfect peace whose minds are stayed on Him.

“Sinning will keep you from the Bible but the Bible will keep you from sinning.”
