See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1 (ESV)
God loves us and wants to meet our every need. He is a good Father.
We have been spending time with close friends and one of the couples has a toddler. She is dependent on her mother and father to meet her every need, as well as her wants. She never worries about where her food or clothes are going from. She just trusts she will be taken care of. It's not only provision of needs - we watched her face light up when her parents walked in the room. It was refreshing to see the total trust and adoration between the child and her parents.
In watching the parents' interaction with their daughter, it is a reflection of God's interaction with us. His desire is to get us to the point where we completely rely on Him for His provision; to trust Him so absolutely with every part of our lives (physical, spiritual and mental) - daily and continually without ceasing.
God wants us to be completely dependent on Him to meet our every need. As we learn to rely on Him more completely, we can be at peace like the child above, knowing that He is indeed, a good Father.
“The child asks of the Father whom he knows. Thus, the essence of Christian prayer is not general adoration, but definite, concrete petition. The right way to approach God is to stretch out our hands and ask of One who we know has the heart of a Father.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship
