The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making the wise simple;
Psalm 19:7 (ESV)
There is much confusion in the world today over what is right and wrong. We are living in an age where what was previously seen as wrong is now right, and what was right is now wrong.
Today the emphasis is increasingly more on self, versus serving others. Today we also see a relaxation of moral standards with a new norm: if it feels right do it, especially as long as it doesn’t hurt others. Today many things are accepted that a few decades ago would have been viewed as unacceptable. How has this change of redefining right and wrong occurred?
Our country has continued to move further away from the biblical standards defining right and wrong. In moving away from the Bible, we have lost sight of the truth as stated in Psalm 19:7, that “the law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul”. It is the law of the LORD that guides and protects, and gives joy to the heart and light to the eyes. God’s laws warn us and reward us, and they guide us toward success because God loves us more than we can imagine, and His laws are designed to keep us from danger.
It is through returning to the laws of the LORD that we are revived, have joy, and become wise.
"Not until we have become humble and teachable, standing in awe of God's holiness and sovereignty. Acknowledging our own littleness, distrusting our own thoughts, and willing to have our minds turned upside down, can divine wisdom become ours."
